Great Intro
From Steve Mark of Tarzana, California on .
This disc provides a great overview of the sport, training and gear you need to start and get going with triathlon. I've already done a few triathlons and I still learned a few things that I didn't know - filling in the gaps, so to speak. This includes links to sites (like active.com) that list races. Terrific for a beginner who hasn't raced yet.
If you are tempted with triathlons, Get This!
From Dan Sheerin of Marina Del Rey, California on .
The thought of taking part in a multi discipline endurance event such as a triathlon can be very daunting if you haven't done one before but this DVD eases you into it well. You will be given detailed background of the events and told about the different combinations and distances that are generally on offer. You will also be given advice on training and equipment needed as well as invaluable tips for completing your first triathlon. I have completed a number of triathlons now in more than one country and at various distances and I still found this introduction DVD useful. Even when you think you know everything, you get told some information that you can use to improve your performance. Just remember, once you have done a triathlon, you will always want to do another. The Basics for Triathletes is aimed at the beginner wanting to be introduced to the sport but it is always useful as a refresher for the more experienced athlete. For a more in depth training schedule, check out the other DVD's in the series that concentrate on Swimming drills, optimal cycling techniques and how to improve your run. There is also one that will guide you through focused weight training that will support all of the triathlon disciplines and put you on the path to the ideal Triathlete physique.
